This deck of 96 flash cards by Show What You Know Publishing includes five reading passages, four revising and editing passages and 75 questions. There’s an analysis on the back of each question card. Cards with multiple choice questions have explanations about why the correct answer is correct and why the incorrect ones are not. Suggested answers are included on the backs of short-answer and extended-response cards. The reading passages are essentially reading comprehension quizzes. Revising and editing passages provide a piece of text that may or may not be accurately edited. Questions about the content follow. The cards come shrink wrapped, not boxed, and measure 4 inches by 6 inches.

Pluses – Cards are on stiff stock, making them easy to handle. Students can whip through a lessons quickly, providing a sense of accomplishment. Also, several students could use the cards at the same time – a cost-saving factor for financially strapped schools.
Minuses – Text is on both front and backs of cards, making it difficult for a student to read and comprehend a single passage at a sitting. It would be impossible if the cards got out of sequence in any way! It appears the authors have simply taken a workbook and cut it up in card form. Also, the cards need some sort of a container or holder for times when they are not in use. Otherwise, they are likely to end up all over the classroom floor or all over the teacher’s desk. In all, someone needed to think through the flashcard concept before designing this deck.
