This package of 96 flash cards (4 inches by 6 inches) addresses Ohio’s academic standards and benchmarks in math as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Education. Each card has a specific math problem on the front and the correct answer and analysis on the back. For multiple choice questions, the analysis explains why the correct answer is correct and the wrong answers are wrong. For open-response questions, the sample answers provided show students how they might respond to score the highest number of points. Subjects covered include fractions, irrational and rational numbers, probability, geometry, algebra, as well as using charts and graphs. The grade level indicators and benchmark correlations are in the upper left corner of each card.

Pluses – This simple and precise format, with a single card addressing a single math problem, is an effective study tool. Students get the correct answer quickly, by just flipping over the card. Also, several students could use the cards at once – a cost saving factor for many districts. However, the small typeface used on the cards would prevent an entire classroom from using them all at once.
Minuses – The cards come in a shrink-wrapped pack without a box or holder, making them difficult to handle and easy to scatter. While it probably would not matter if they were studied out of sequence, it would be difficult to keep them in numerical order.
