Like its companion study aid, the Roadmap In Reading, this 261-page soft-bound workbook is produced by the Princeton Review (note: no relationship whatsoever to Princeton University). The company produces an entire series of “Roadmaps” for Ohio students in all the grades that must undergo standardized testing. It begins with a general overview of the OGT in math, along with general tips for answering multiple-choice, short answer and extended response questions. Seventeen lessons based on Ohio’s academic benchmarks and indicators make up the bulk of the workbook. Each lesson addresses a different benchmark and includes a vocabulary review, sample questions and answers and an exercise that puts students “on their own.” An answer key for the lessons is located toward the back of the book, along with two actual OGT math tests that a student can use to familiarize themselves with the real test. The answer key to the practice tests concludes the workbook.

Minuses – Like its companion “Roadmap In Reading,” this math workbook was authored by non-residents who reviewed the OGT in math, not Ohio classroom teachers. Although the cover notes Ohio teachers reviewed and approved the finished product. While diagrams and illustrations in the geometry sections are clear and there are only a few to a page, the workbook could use a little color and some interesting graphs here and there. The answer key is too far from the lessons and would keep students flipping back and forth between pages.
