This 272-page soft-bound workbook measures 8 inches by 11 inches and is published by Research & Education Association (REA). The introduction says the book provides complete and accurate representations of the Ohio Graduation Test in reading and writing English. The book, which is aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards, is divided into seven chapters on reading and two on writing. The reading chapters cover vocabulary, evaluating information, author’s purpose, literary texts and nonfiction texts. The writing chapters cover revising and editing copy, as well as writing essay pieces. Two sets of practice tests at the end of the workbook are based on actual OGTs, and include both answers and explanations. Each chapter contains exercises with answers to specific questions at the end. The exercises are sprinkled with “tips” on how to approach the questions and answer them correctly.

Minuses – Like the “Roadmap To The OGT in Reading” workbook, the “Best Test Preparation For The OGT in Reading” has no specific author, but appears to be a collaborative effort of several editors. None appear to have a connection to education in Ohio. The publishing company is based in New Jersey. The answer key to the individual chapter lessons is hard to find and follow. Users would need to flip back and forth continually to find the correct answers. The two OGT practice test'>OGT practice tests in the rear of the book come with answers and detailed explanations. But again, these answer keys are hard to follow. It may be a case of too much information!
