This 159-page softbound study guide published by Ohio-based Orange Frazer Press is directed at helping high school students prepare for the social studies portion of the Ohio Graduation Test – a major hurdle to obtaining a secondary diploma in the state. The book supplements regular classroom activities and materials, showing students what will be expected of them when they take the OGT. Questions address various levels in Bloom’s taxonomy. It is divided into seven sections that correlate with the Ohio Department of Education’s academic standards in social studies. Each section is subdivided into brief chapters that address specific benchmarks. A short practice test in the subject matter concludes each chapter. Practice tests include multiple choice, short-answer and extended response questions. Answers are available on the Orange Frazer Web site for schools that purchase class sets of the book. There are also complete OGT practice test'>OGT practice tests on the Web site.
The workbook-style format allows students plenty of room to fill in answers. The book begins with notes to both students and teachers on preparing for the OGT and includes tips for taking the actual test. It concludes with a glossary of important social studies terms and hints for answering short-answer and open-ended questions. Unlike many competitor study guides, it does not contain sample OGTs. Those are only found on the Orange Frazer Web site.

Minuses – Although the workbook/study guide is fairly well designed and easy to read, it has only a handful of graphics or pictures to break up the text. The answer key for the practice tests is available only on the Orange Frazer Web site – an unnecessary hassle for teachers and parents.
